WHERE WE GO

Sint Maarten's Best Snorkeling

All three locations are only accessible by boat. We select spots based on conditions on the day — visibility and current vary with weather and season.

Creole Rock

Marine reserve

Protected reef · Sea turtles · Tropical fish · Calm entry from the boat

A large rock formation just off Grand Case on the French side, surrounded by a protected marine reserve. The reef is shallow enough for beginners but interesting enough for experienced snorkelers. Sea turtles are regularly spotted grazing on the sea grass nearby.

Pinel Island

Island reef

Clear shallow water · Sea turtles · Beach access · Calm lagoon

A tiny uninhabited island off the northeast coast of Sint Maarten with some of the clearest water on the island. The reef runs along the southern and eastern edges. We can anchor offshore and swim in, or time the visit to include a beach stop.

Tintamarre

Uninhabited island

Undisturbed reef · Remote anchorage · White sand beach · Excellent visibility

The most remote snorkeling destination we visit. Tintamarre is a nature reserve with no permanent population. The reef around the island is largely undisturbed and the water is exceptionally clear. A full-day trip to Tintamarre typically includes both snorkeling and a beach lunch.

Snorkeling Trip Questions

What are the best snorkeling spots in Sint Maarten?

Creole Rock (protected marine reserve), Pinel Island (clear shallow water, sea turtles), and Tintamarre (uninhabited island, undisturbed reef). We can visit multiple spots on a full-day trip.

Is snorkeling gear included?

Yes. Masks, snorkels, and fins in a range of sizes for adults and children are provided. You do not need to bring your own equipment.

Are these trips suitable for beginners?

Yes. All locations have calm, shallow entry points. We provide flotation vests for non-swimmers who want to observe the reef from the surface.

Will we see sea turtles?

Sea turtle sightings are common around Pinel Island and Tintamarre, especially in the morning. We cannot guarantee sightings, but they are a regular occurrence on these trips.

How many snorkeling spots can we visit in a day?

On a full-day trip we typically visit two spots — often Pinel Island and Creole Rock, or Tintamarre with a reef stop on the way. Half-day trips usually focus on one location.
